An explanation of the differences between AS9100 Revision B and Revision C is available as a link on this page. We are also planning a webinar to discuss the changes in detail and answer questions regarding the differences.

AS 9100 Management Systems

AS9100 is the quality management system specific to the aerospace industry. The current version, AS9100 Rev. C, is the quality management system specific to the industry. Version AS9100 Rev. C includes the ISO 9001:2000 standard verbatim. In addition, there are supplementary items that address how the standard applies to the aerospace industry.
First published in May 1997 by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) as AS9000, the AS standard has evolved to AS9100 Rev. B and is recognized by all major Aerospace OEMs.

In addition, as part of an AS9100 certification audit, a numerical scoring of the audit results is required. This is defined in the AS9101 checklist document.

An organization’s AS9100 certification status and the scoring results from the certification audit are posted in SAE’s OASIS database. Access to the OASIS database for information on organizations certified to AS9100 is available to the general public. Access to the scoring results is limited to only authorized controlling entities for the Registrar Management Committee.

About AS9120:

Certification to AS9120 provides access to the best global practices of the aerospace industry and further demonstrates an organization's commitment to deliver quality products and services to its customers.

Supplier Requirements:
The industry is moving quickly towards requiring their suppliers to be AS9100 compliant / certified. By becoming AS9100 compliant / certified, suppliers can gain a competitive advantage and benefit from the improved processes and continuous improvement that is the foundation of ISO 9001:2000 certified Quality Management Systems.
